Bobs for good foundation

Thanks to the amazing generosity from runners, sponsors, vendors and all involved in the OUTsurance 94.5 Kfm Gun Run, Atlantic Athletic Club was able to present the Bobs for Good Foundation with a cheque for R35 000. This will go a long way towards helping to provide youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds with a brand new pair of locally made leather school shoes. A shoe drop will be planned using these funds and runners are welcome to get involved. As soon as one has been set up, details will be posted to the website and on Facebook.

Over 7.5 million children in South Africa do not have school shoes. The Bobs for Good Foundation aims to give hope, pride and dignity through the gift of locally made leather school shoes. The Gun Run and its sponsors are proud to be associated with the Bobs for Good Foundation and believe that the vision and the activities of the Foundation are strategically aligned to the context of the Gun Run.

Why Shoes?

Bob's for good According to the department of Education, over 7.5 million children in South Africa do not have school shoes or socks. Through the gift of shoes, the Foundation aims to promote the importance of education by keeping children happy and in their classrooms. The team has witnessed the domino effect that a single pair of shoes can have on an individual, family and community and the hope, pride and dignity it can restore. “It is such a simple thing but it makes such a huge difference in the children’s lives.” And because Bobs for Good school shoes are South African made, there is the added benefit in that every shoe purchase is helping contribute to jobs and wealth creation in South Africa.

The Bobs for Good foundation has currently donated 21,350 pairs of shoes.
