5km A short quick run
The new Gun Run 5km route offers runners and walkers spectacular views of the Cape Town Stadium, Green Point Park and breathtaking sea views from the promenade along Mouille Point. The start of the race has been extended by 45 minutes and will kick off at 8:30. In doing so, 5km participants will be able to enjoy the full vibe and atmosphere of the finish area along with the 21km and 10km runners who will be finishing at the same time. You can pre-enter before 28 September or you can also enter on the morning of the event from 6am onwards.
The Route
The race starts outside the Cape Town stadium on Fritz Sonnenberg Road. Soon after the start, participants take a left turn up Vlei Road and head up towards the fan walk adjacent to Western Boulevard. The route continues along the fan walk to McDonalds and joins Granger Bay Boulevard, with the stadium on the left hand side. The route then follows Beach Road to Newport Deli, where runners will join the promenade until they reach the Mouille Point putt-putt course. Just past the Shell garage, the route will follow Bay Road back towards the lighthouse and participants will enter the Green Point Park through the west gate, finishing at the amphitheatre.- Start

Start & Finish
From the Stadium
The route will start outside the main entrance to the Cape Town Stadium on Fritz Sonnenberg Road, just outside McDonalds. The 21km, 10km and 5km races will all start here, with the 5km race starting at 8:30 – PLEASE NOTE THE NEW STARTING TIME.To Green Point Park
For the first time, all races will finish at the amphitheatre of the new Green Point Park. This new finish offers spectacular views of the golf course and stadium and offers plenty of space for all runners and supporters to soak up the atmosphere and great entertainment at the end of the race. 5km runners will approach the park from the west gate and finishing at the amphitheatre.Prizes
Men & Women
All 5km runners are encouraged to stay after their run and enjoy the vibe at the finish area. All runners stand a chance of winning some fabulous lucky draw prizes including R10, 000 in cash, a 40-inch HD Samsung TV and Asics hampers. Don’t miss out!
Water Tables
For the 5km Fun Run, a water station will be located approximately halfway and Coke will be available at the finish. Over 80,000 water sachets will be ordered for race day to keep all our runners sufficiently hydrated. Water table stations will also be competing for a ‘best table’ prize, so expect to see stations full of colour, vibe and festivity!
